Raymond E. Feist tops the hardcovers, with Robin Hobb not far behind. Anne McCaffrey still has books on both the hardcover and paperback lists. New runner-up: The Long Patrol by Brian Jacques (Philomel). There were 77 nominees, down from 89 last month.

Mercedes Lackey has two paperback bestsellers. The new runner-up is GodHeads by Emily Devenport (Roc). There were 106 nominees, to last month's 111.

For trade paperbacks, Sharon Shinn took over top place from Stephen King; both King and Mary Doria Russell have spent an impressive time on the list now. New runner-up: Wolves of the Gods by Alan Cole (Del Rey). We had 78 nominees, just up from last month's 75.

In media tie-ins, another Star Wars took first place with a big lead. New runner-up: Star Trek, Deep Space Nine: Far Beyond the Stars by Steve Barnes (Pocket). We had 52 nominees, well up from 35.

For gaming-related books, there were more holdovers than usual. New runner-up was Forgotten Realms: The Lost Library of Cormanthyr by Mel Odom (TSR). We had 25 nominees, down from 26.
