Steven Spielberg has finally, after months of speculation, committed to his next project, and it's not Minority Report. It's A.I., the unfinished Stanley Kubrick project about artificial intelligence. Production is scheduled to begin July 10, for a Summer 2001 release. Spielberg will write and direct the film, which will be executive produced by Jan Harlan, Kubrick's brother-in-law and producer of Kubrick's last several films. Spielberg is still committed to Minority Report, with that project scheduled to begin shooting in April 2001.

George Duning, 1908 - 2000
Film and television composer George Duning has died at the age of 92. He wrote scores for films including From Here to Eternity, Picnic, and Terror in the Wax Museum, and composed scores for several episodes of the original Star Trek series, including ''The Empath'', ''Metamorphosis'', and ''Is There In Truth No Beauty?''.
