The Skies of Pern was all alone at the top of the hardcover list; Otherland: Sea of Silver Light was also well ahead of the other nominees. Michael Moorcock's The Dreamthief's Daughter (Warner Aspect) was the new runner-up. We had 77 nominees, down slightly from 79 last month.

The Fifth Elephant completely dominated the paperback list. New runner-up: The Second Summoning by Tanya Huff (DAW). Nominees: 104, one more than last month.

The Mists of Avalon led the trade paperback category for the second month straight. New runner-up: Sharon Shinn's Summers at Castle Auburn (Ace). Nominees: 64, up from 58.

Star Wars: The New Jedi Order: Edge of Victory I: Conquest dominated media-related titles; Star Trek: Preserver also made a strong showing. Nominees: 26, down from 35.

DragonLance: Dragons of a Lost Star headed the gaming-related list. Nominees: 24, down from 29.
