Internet Time is the invention of Swiss watchmaker Swatch, in October 1998; it consists of a time-value in units of thousandths of a day -- the portion after the @ sign -- in the meridian that passes through Biel, Switzerland: home of Swatch (and one time zone east of Greenwich Mean Time). Thus, @500 is noon in Biel, but is the same 'Internet Time' throughout the world. One @ increment is roughly a minute and a half. Locus Online's implementation displays the full year, month, and date in that time zone, and is updated each time you access or refresh this page. Javascript rounding may cause our time value to differ from Swatch's by 1 at any given moment. Click here for more information from Swatch.
