Sidewise Awards

The 2003 Sidewise Awards for Alternate History were presented Sunday, August 31, 2003, at Torcon 3, the 61st World Science Fiction Convention.

LONG FORM (tie)
  • The Severed Wing, Martin J. Gidron (Livingston Press)
  • Ruled Britannia, Harry Turtledove (Roc)
  • SHORT FORM
  • "Empire", William Sanders (Alternate Generals II Harry Turtledove, ed.; Baen, Jul 2002)
  • The Sidewise Awards were first given in 1996, for works published in 1995, and are given annually to works of 'alternate history', named after Murray Leinster's 1934 short story "Sidewise In Time", in which a strange storm causes portions of Earth to swap places with their analogs from other timelines.
