your present subscription. We do not send notices
when subscriptions are about to expire. If you change
your address, please notify us immediately. Second
class mail is not usually forwarded. It is either returned
or destroyed. We subtract one issue from your subscription
for each returned copy. We keep expired
addresses on file for one year, so tell us if your
subscription is a renewal or completely new.

This is the fastest issue we’ve gotten out in
quite a while. I’m writing this final editorial
page only two weeks after the mailing of the
March issue; we’re officially back on schedule.
Although Pam is still the only one proficient in
PageMaker, she now weighs over 100 pounds
and we can rest a little easier. It means our
deadlines are real again — the 20th of the
previous month. The deadline for the June
issue is April 20, the July issue May 20, etc. We
hold some pages open longer, but the 20th
deadline is fairly firm for notes, letters, and
such. Next issue will cover some conventions
(SerCon and at least one other), have several
interviews (on hand are tapes with Kim Stanley
Robinson, Bruce Sterling, Howard Waldrop,
and Lewis Shiner), and we’ll print more congratulatory
letters — we have many more on
hand and (hint) would like others from noncharter
subscribers. We’ll spread them out
over several issues, so don’t worry about the
May deadline. The June issue will have our
quarterly Along Publishers Row. Small press
publishers should get us information as quickly
as possible for that. Unfortunately, we won’t
be able to hold the June issue for the Nebula
Awards (May 22nd), so they won’t appear
until July, along with the ABA coverage. This
means the Locus Survey can’t appear (even if
we finish counting it early) until August and
September. October and November will cover
Worldcon, December the World Fantasy
Convention. Is it 1989 already?
REDESIGN
We’ve started a bit of internal redesigning
on this issue, with more coherent sections,
some new headings, and an expanded contents
page (I had too much trouble finding things I
remembered printing, but not where). We’re
still finding new things we can do with our
software and hardware, as well as its limitations.
Suggestions are always welcome. The
cover, a departure for Locus, was designed by
Paul Clift.
