New releases, led by Brent Weeks’s The Broken Eye, dominated the hardcover list, taking six of the ten spots. The Magician’s Land by Lev Grossman came in second, with The Ultra Thin Man by Patrick Swenson (Tor) as the new runner-up. There were 43 titles nominated, down from last month’s 51.

For the fifth month in a row, books in George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series have taken the top two spots on the paperback list. In a repeat of last month’s ranking, A Dance with Dragons came in first, with A Game of Thrones in second. The new runner-up was Blood of Tyrants by Naomi Novik (Del Rey), with 64 nominated titles, one less than last month.

This month, Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie regained the top spot on the trade paperback list with a substantial lead over second-place finisher The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman. Cursed Moon by Jaye Wells (Orbit) was the new runner-up, with 38 nominated titles, down from last month’s 42.

New releases also dominated media-related books with Star Wars: Kenobi by John Jackson Miller taking first place, followed by Goodnight Darth Vader by Jeffrey Brown in second. There were no new runners-up with only ten nominated titles, down from 17 last month.

Forgotten Realms: The Reaver by Richard Lee Byers climbed from second-place on last month’s gaming-related list to first place this month. Erin M. Evans’s Forgotten Realms: The Adversary took second. Warhammer: The Unremembered Empire by Dan Abnett (Games Workshop) was the new runner-up. There were 17 nominated titles, up from last month’s 16.
