Trigger Warning by Neil Gaiman held onto the top spot on the hardcover list with a respectable lead over second-place finisher Dead Heat by Patricia Briggs. L.E. Modesitt, Jr.’s Madness in Solidar (Tor) was the new runner-up. There were 49 titles nominated, up from last month’s 45.

On the paperback list, Jim Butcher’s Skin Game edged out tied second place finishers, Pocket Apocalypse by Seanan McGuire and Words of Radiance by Brandon Sanderson, taking first place by one point. The new runner-up was Magic Breaks by Ilona Andrews (Ace). We had 56 nominated titles, up from 51 last month.

For the fifth month in a row, the top of the trade paperbacks list remains static, with The Martian by Andy Weir and Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie taking the first and second spots respectively. There were no new runners-up, with 36 nominated titles, one up from last month’s 35.

There was another tight race in media-related books, with only one point deciding the outcome. Tony Daniel’s Star Trek: Savage Trade wrested first place from second place finisher Star Wars: Honor Among Thieves by James S.A. Corey. There were no new runners-up. There were 23 nominated titles, up from 16 last month.

In gaming-related books, R.A. Salvatore scored a hat-trick with his Forgotten Realms Companion Codex series. Vengeance of the Iron Dwarf took first place, followed by Night of the Hunter in second, and Rise of the King in third. There were no new runners-up, with 12 nominated titles, down from last month’s 14.
