On the hardcover list, Welcome to Night Vale by Joseph Fink & Jeffrey Cranor remained in first place, with China Miéville’s newest book, This Census-Taker, in second. The new runner-up was Medusa’s Web by Tim Powers (Morrow). We had 45 titles nominated, down from last month’s 51.

The Martian by Andy Weir again held off all challengers to the top of the paperback list. Second place went to perennial favorite George R.R. Martin’s A Game of Thrones. Drake by Peter McLean was the new runner-up. There were 66 nominated titles, the same number as last month.

On the trade paperback list, both Andy Weir’s The Martian and Ann Leckie’s Ancillary Mercy kept last month’s placements, taking numbers one and two, respectively. There were no new runners-up. There were 36 nominated titles, down from last month’s 37.

In media-related books, the Star Wars movie propelled the novelization Star Wars: The Force Awakens by Alan Dean Foster to an easy first place victory. Last month’s winner, Star Wars: Aftermath by Chuck Wendig came in second. There were no new runners-up. There were 17 nominated titles, way down from the 36 titles nominated last month.

In gaming-related books, R.A. Salvatore’s Forgotten Realms: The Legend of Drizzt: Homecoming: Archmage, came in first place followed by Assassin’s Creed: Underworld by Oliver Bowden in second. There were no new runners-up. We had 11 nominated titles, down from last month’s 16.
