On the paperback list, The Aeronaut’s Windlass by Jim Butcher remained in first place, with Robin Hobb’s Fool’s Quest (book two of her Fitz and Fool trilogy) in second. Bombs Away by Harry Turtledove (Del Rey), the first book of two in the Hot War series, was the new runner-up. There were 59 nominated titles, up from 54 last month.

Neal Stephenson’s Seveneves regained the top spot on the trade paperback list, with a wide margin over The Obelisk Gate by N.K. Jemisin (book two in The Broken Earth series and the sequel to this year’s Hugo winner The Fifth Season). There were no new runners-up. There were 75 nominated titles, up from 69 last month.

In media-related and gaming-related books, the second book in the Star Trek: Legacies series, Star Trek: Legacies: Best Defense by David Mack, replaced last month’s winner, Star Trek: Legacies: Captain to Captain by Greg Cox, and took first place, while Star Wars: Aftermath: Life Debt by Chuck Wendig held onto second. There were no new runners-up. 25 titles were nominated, down from 28 last month.
