Beren and Lúthien by J.R.R. Tolkien, extracted and updated from the Silmarillion and other works by Tolkien, demolished the competition to take first place on the hardcover list. The Rise and Fall of D.O.D.O. by Neal Stephenson & Nicole Galland came in a distant second. Seanan McGuire’s Down Among the Sticks and Bones (Tor.com Publishing), book two in her Wayward Children series, was the first runner-up. There were 53 nominated titles, the same number as last month.

The first and second place finishers on the paperback list remain the same as last month, with Neil Gaiman’s American Gods: The Tenth Anniversary Edition in first place and The Dark Tower 1: The Gunslinger by Stephen King in second. The new runner-up was Invasive by Chuck Wendig (Harper Voyage). There were 58 nominated titles, down from 69 last month.

Children of Earth and Sky by Guy Gavriel Kay managed to hang on to the top of the trade paperback list, just barely edging out second place finisher, Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451. There were no new runners-up. We had 68 nominated titles, down from 73 last month.

New release, Star Trek: The Next Generation: Hearts and Minds by Dayton Ward pushed last month’s winner Timothy Zahn’s Star Wars: Thrawn into second place and claimed the top spot on our media-related & gaming-related list. There were no new runners-up. 15 titles were nominated, down from 25 last month.
