All lists rank hardcovers and paperbacks separately, except for the USA Today list, which is a single list combining fiction and nonfiction in all formats. Dates shown are posted dates, except those in parentheses, which are dates compiled. New York Times posts its list one week in advance of print publication.
Note that some sources do not compile paperback bestsellers, and some exclude YA books (like the Harry Potter series) from their hardcover and paperback fiction lists.

Kelley Armstrong's The Awakening (HarperCollins), second book in her YA "Darkest Powers" series following The Summoning, debuts at #1 on New York Times' children's chapter book list. It's also #70 on the combined USA Today list.
In paperback, the reprint edition of Dean Koontz' Odd Hours debuts solidly at #6 on the NYT mass market list, #7 on the same list at PW, #24 at USA Today.
Paperback original The Lost Fleet: Relentless (Ace), fifth book in the series, debuts at #16 on the NYT mass market list, #108 at PW.
