All lists rank hardcovers and paperbacks separately, except for the USA Today list, which is a single list combining fiction and nonfiction in all formats. Dates shown are posted dates, except those in parentheses, which are dates compiled. New York Times posts its list one week in advance of print publication.
Note that some sources do not compile paperback bestsellers, and some exclude YA books (like the Harry Potter series) from their hardcover and paperback fiction lists.

Sherrilyn Kenyon's Bad Moon Rising (St. Martin's), latest in her Dark-Hunter series, debuts strongly on hardcover lists this week, ranking #1 at New York Times and Publishers Weekly.
Thomas Pynchon's Inherent Vice (Penguin), not a genre book but noted here as an associational item, also debuts strongly on print lists, ranking #1 in San Francisco, #3 in Washington DC, #5 in New York.
And The Winds of Dune by Brian Herbert & Kevin J. Anderson (Tor) debuts on three lists, though ranking no higher than #15 at NYT and PW.
