All lists rank hardcovers and paperbacks separately, except for the USA Today list, which is a single list combining fiction and nonfiction in all formats. Dates shown are posted dates, except those in parentheses, which are dates compiled. New York Times posts its list one week in advance of print publication.
Note that some sources do not compile paperback bestsellers, and some exclude YA books (like the Harry Potter series) from their hardcover and paperback fiction lists.

Patricia Briggs is hitting it big this week: her paperback original Hunting Ground (Ace), second in her "Alpha & Omega" series about werewolves following Cry Wolf, debuts strongly on four lists this week, as high as #2 on the mass market paperback lists of New York Times and Publishers Weekly. And a graphic novel story in her Mercy Thompson series, Mercy Thompson: Homecoming (Del Rey), ranks #10 this week on Washington Post's hardcover fiction list, and #91 on the USA Today list.
Also debuting this week is Richelle Mead's Blood Promise (Razorbill), fourth in her YA Vampire Academy series, ranking #5 on the USA Today but not on any other lists; and S.M. Stirling's The Sword of the Lady (Roc), latest in his Change series, ranking #13 on New York Times's fiction hardcover list.
