Note that some sources do not compile paperback bestsellers, and some exclude YA books (like the Harry Potter series) from their hardcover and paperback fiction lists.

Robert Jordan & Brandon Sanderson's Towers of Midnight (Tor) debuts solidly in 1st place on the fiction hardcover lists of New York Times, Washington Post, and Publishers Weekly. It also debuts at Los Angeles Times at #19.
In paperback, a new Patricia Briggs novel, Wolfsbane (Ace) debuts on the mass market paperback lists of New York Times, at #12, and Publishers Weekly, at #13; it's also on the combined USA Today list at #63.
