Watchmen Settlement

posted @ 1/17/2009 04:38:00 PM PT

Warner Bros. and Twentieth Century Fox have finally resolved their dispute regarding the rights to the upcoming Watchmen movie, based on the graphic novel by Alan Moore, in a confidential settlement. The movie can now move forward, with Fox no longer in any kind of distribution role, but receiving a cash payment upfront rumored to be between $5 million and $10 million, 8.5% of the box office, and a portion of future sequels or spinoffs. In a very warm and fuzzy press release, both companies acknowledged that the other "acted in good faith" in the dispute over the film. The film's release is scheduled for March 6.
