Mitchell Leaves Del Rey

Del Rey editor-in-chief Betsy Mitchell is taking early retirement, effective this December. Mitchell is one of the most accomplished editors in the field; she previously worked on the staff at Analog, was one of the first editors at Baen, served as associate publisher of Bantam Spectra, and founded the Aspect imprint for Warner Books before taking over Del Rey in 2002.

As a result of her departure, Tricia Pasternak has been promoted to editorial director of Del Rey Spectra; Keith Clayton will become associate publisher for Del Rey Spectra (and will continue as director of creative development for Ballantine Bantam Dell’s IP group); Anne Groell will be promoted to executive director of Del Rey Spectra; and Frank Parisi will become in-house coordinator for Star Wars titles and editorial head of other licensed tie-ins.
