2016 Writers/Illustrators of the Future Awards Winners

The 2016 Writers of the Future Golden Pen Award and Illustrators of the Future Golden Brush Award went to Matt Dovey and Adrian Massaro respectively for the text and artwork of Dovey’s story, “Squalor and Sympathy”. This is the first time in the awards’ history that a writer and artist have won for working on the same story.

Both were honored, along with the rest of the 12 writer and illustrator winners (with a 13th writer finalist) from each of the quarterly 2015 contests, at a ceremony held April 10, 2016 in Los Angeles CA at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre, where all of the winners received their trophies. Golden Awards winners were presented checks for $5,000. All of the winning stories and artwork are published in Writers of the Future Volume 32.
