OMNI Returns to Penthouse

SF and science magazine OMNI has been re-acquired by original publisher Penthouse Global Media, with plans to launch a print edition in October 2017.

CEO Kelly Holland say’s she’s proud that OMNI “is once again a part of the Penthouse family where it belongs. Thanks in large part to Pamela Weintraub, one of OMNI’s original editors, who had the foresight to bring the brand back to life by re-registering the trademarks and launching a digital site, she, along with many of the original OMNI staff, will deliver the award-winning magazine to newsstands once again.”

OMNI’s longtime fiction editor Ellen Datlow will work on the new incarnation.

Penthouse Global Media has also filed a lawsuit against Jerrick Media and principals Jeremy Frommer and Rick Schwartz, accusing them of infringing on OMNI’s trademark. Frommer acquired a trove of old OMNI material in 2013 when he purchased the contents of a storage locker once owned by former publisher Bob Guccione, and subsequently launched magazine Omni Reboot and website OMNI Media.
