Johnson Wins Edge Hill Short Story Prize

The 2017 Edge Hill Short Story Prize went to Fen (Cape) by Daisy Johnson, “whose stories are set in an uncanny and weirdly magical East Anglian landscape.” The £10,000 prize is awarded annually “for excellence in a published single author short story collection.” Works by authors born or residing in the British Isles are eligible for the award. This year’s judges were Cathy Galvin, Rodge Glass, and Thomas Morris.

A £1,000 Readers’ Prize judged by BA Creative Writing students and a £500 prize for a rising talent in Edge Hill University’s own MA Creative Writing program were also awarded. For more information, and the complete nominees and winners, see the Edge Hill Short Story Prize website.
