World Fantasy 2016 Guests of Honor

The 2016 World Fantasy Convention (WFC) has announced their guests of honor: Larry Dixon, Mercedes Lackey, and L.E. Modesitt, Jr. WFC 2016 will be held October 27-30, 2016 at the Hyatt Regency Columbus in Columbus OH. The theme is “Flights of Fantasy.” For more, see the official website.

Hugo Base Competition

MidAmericon II, the 74th Worldcon, held August 17-21, 2016 in Kansas City MO, has opened the competition to design the base for the 2016 Hugo Award. Wall Named Wiscon Chair

Aileen Wall has been named the new chair for Wiscon 40, scheduled to take place May 27-30, 2016. Wall is taking over from Jackie Lee, interim chair since Andrea Horbinski and s.e. smith resigned earlier this month. Wall has been on the Wiscon concom since 2014. Spectrum Fantastic Art Live in San Francisco

Artist-focused convention Spectrum Fantastic Art Live is moving from Kansas City MO to San Francisco CA for its 2016 event, to be held October 28-30, 2016 at the Academy of Art University’s Jerrold building.  

2017 Worldcon in Helsinki

Helsinki in 2017 won the bid to host the 2017 Worldcon. Worldcon 75 will be held August 9-13, 2017 in Helsinki, Finland.
