Terry Bisson and Connie Willis in Conversation

In this edition of the Locus Roundtable podcast, I sat down with the two author Guests of Honor from this year’s International Conference for the Fantastic in the Arts: Terry Bisson and Connie Willis. They sat down to spend some time talking about writing short stories, how they got started in the field, writing in other genres, the Sense of Wonder, Frederic Brown, controlling information, and quite a bit else. They’ve got some charming, funny, and insightful stories to share. Enjoy!

“Thank You!” for the opportunity to listen to this wonderful discussion between two of my favorite writers. Much appreciated! // Lots of great suggestions for things to read, including MOTHER NIGHT by Kurt Vonnegut and I CAPTURE THE CASTLE by Dodie Smith. // But then I still haven’t read everything by Mr. Tolstoy yet!// Am pleased to report that both BLACKOUT and ALL CLEAR by Ms. Willis are in all of the local libraries where I have cards. Put in “Suggestions for Purchase” for TVA BABY by Mr. Bisson at the Pasadena and Los Angeles Public Libraries and will do more later. // Re Vonnegut’s “Harrison Bergeron:” Was its appearance in THE NATIONAL REVIEW a reprint from when it was first printed in the 10/61 issue of THE MAGAZINE OF FANTASY & SCIENCE FICTION? // Nope, I didn’t read it there’n’then, (which would have been just before my 12 birthday, back when I was SERIOUSLY into comic books and horror/sf movies and monster mags) but I did enjoy reading it in THE BEST FROM FANTASY & SCIENCE FICTION, 11TH SERIES, edited by Robert P. Mills, a couple of years later. // Best Wishes to Mr. Bisson and Ms. Willis. Keep writing them and I’ll keep reading them!
