Table S3: Statistics: Unique Novels by Year

prev <— Statistics thread —> next

This table plots, for each year since 1949, the number of unique novels published that year that have been nominated for or won any of the awards in this Index.

The dramatic increase in recent decades is due both to more books published, and more awards that recognize them; conversely, many of the classics of SF were published when no awards existed to honor them.

The scale shows increments of 50. Hold cursor over a color bar to see the value for that year.
