The story was only recently discovered in Italy, and is copyrighted by finders Andrea & Christina Dazzi; the latter also provides a brief preface. A lengthy biographical and critical introduction by Claire Tomalin notes contrasts in the storys themes to those of Frankenstein. A transcription of the authors original text, with emendations, is included. First US edition; apparently published in slightly different form by Viking UK (not seen).
