Dime Mystery Magazine

Begun in December 1932. The first 10 issues were titled Dime Mystery Book Magazine. With the October 1933 issue the shortened title was adopted along with a new story policy, making it the first "Weird Menace" pulp. The shift away from pure horror stories to more conventional crime stories was a somewhat gradual one; we decided to stop indexing with the July 1941 issue. It continued as a mystery magazine through October 1950, the last five issues being titled 15 Mystery. There were at least three U.K. issues of Dime Mystery Magazine published by Thorpe and Porter, Ltd. in the late 40's - early 50's. These consisted of stories reprinted from the Oct '48 and Dec '49 issues of the U.S. edition.
