Spicy Mystery Stories

One of the infamous "spicy" pulps. The entire line was folded at the end of 1942 and replaced with tamer titles; see Speed Mystery. This title ran a large amount of fantastic fiction, often half or better of an issue. §§The large number of reprints in the last couple years are apparently the result of an embezzlement scheme by two of the editors. The first issue of Spicy Mystery was not available to the general public. It was a slender issue published for trademark purposes and is extremely rare. §§In 1990 Malibu Graphics published an anthology titled Spicy Mystery Stories, edited by Tom Mason, containing 10 stories reprinted from the magazine.
