The text is that of the 1965 revision. There is a terrible new cover by Michael Herring, although the copyright page still lists the artist as J.R.R. Tolkien. It also says ninth printing July 1987 inside, which is nonsense. Its probably closer to 100 printings. There are 8.3 million copies in print from Ballantine. (CNB)
