The story of the Forrester family—first introduced in the Doctor Who “New Adventures” series—from their humble roots to their galaxy-spanning Earth empire a thousand years from now.


Fiends Richard Laymon (Headline 0-7472-1820-X, Jan ’97 [Dec ’96], £16.99, 275pp, hc, cover by Steve Crisp); Collection of 13 dark fantasy and thriller stories, including the original novel, Fiends. There is an Introduction by Dean Koontz. A paperback edition (£4.99) was announced but not seen.

Decalog 5: Wonders ed. Paul Leonard & Jim Mortimore (Virgin 0-426-20515-4, Sep ’97 [Jul ’97], £5.99, 313pp, pb, cover by Colin Howard); Original SF anthology of 10 stories. Authors include Stephen Baxter and Jeanne Cavelos.


The Road to Darkness Paul Leppin (Dedalus 1-873982-33-X, Nov ’97 [Oct ’97], £7.99, 151pp, tp, cover by David Smith); Literary fantasy omnibus of two novels and a story in the vein of de Sade. Translated by Mike Mitchell from the German. Originally published as Daniel Jesus (1905), Severin’s Road to Darkness (1914) and “The Ghost of the Jewish Ghetto” (c. 1915). This is a worldwide edition available in the US at $11.95.


Three Books from the Chronicles of Narnia C. S. Lewis (Collins 0-00-675286-1, Nov ’96 [Jan ’97], £6.99, 500pp, tp) [Narnia]; Young-adult fantasy omnibus of The Magician’s Nephew (The Bodley Head, 1955), The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (Bles, 1950) and The Horse and his Boy (Bles, 1954).
