Black Empire George Samuel Schuyler (Northeastern University Press 1-55553-114-8, Nov ’91 [Jun ’92], $24.95, 368pp, hc) Utopian fantasy of American blacks taking over Africa and forming a utopian (if totalitarian) society. This originally appeared as a serial in the Pittsburgh Courier in 1938 as by Samuel I. Brooks, and this is apparently its first publication in book form. Edited by Robert A. Hill and R. Kent Rasmussen, with a foreword by John A. Williams. This is a 1991 book not seen until now.


Lilith’s Cave: Jewish Tales of the Supernatural Howard Schwartz (Oxford University Press 0-19-506726-6, Nov ’91 [Aug ’92], $10.95, 274pp, tp, cover by John Brandi) Reprint (Oxford 1988) collection of 50 retold Jewish supernatural folktales with an introduction by the author and commentary on each tale. A good sourcebook for fantasy writers (CNB).

This is revised and updated from the 1988 CompuPress edition. One of the best overviews of the publishing process (CNB).
