Ellen Datlow & Terri Windling (St. Martin’s 0-312-01851-7, Aug ’88 [Jul ’88], $19.95, 491pp, hc); Anthology of 37 fantasy and horror stories plus write-ups on the year etc. This is actually a combination of two books: a Fantasy Best edited by Windling and a horror best edited by Datlow. Horror in Paradise ed. A. Grove Day & Bacil F. Kirtley (Mutual 0-935180-23-0, 1986 [Jul ’88], $3.95, 285pp, pb); Anthology of 34 stories, some of which are supernatural horror. All take place in the Hawaiian Islands, where the book was published. This has a 1986 copyright, but was not seen until 1988.
