Far Frontiers Vol. V/Spring 1986 ed. Jerry E. Pournelle & Jim Baen (Baen 0-671-65572-8, May ’86 [Apr ’86], $2.95, 284pp, pb) “The paperback magazine of science fiction and science fact” is more of an anthology and Baen catalog than a magazine. Baen is the actual editor, with Pournelle in an advisory role. This issue has excerpts from several upcoming Baen books, articles, and a few stories. The most interesting piece is an article by Gregory Benford which, among other things, covers the 1984 meeting between Clarke and Heinlein. (CNB)

Malzberg (A&W/Galahad 0-88365-699-X, 1985 [Jan ’86], $8.98, 597pp, hc) Reprint (Arbor House 1981 as The Arbor House Treasury of Horror and the Supernatural) anthology. Omits one story, “Mass Without Voices” by Arthur L. Samuels, in order to make it an abridgement of the original. This is an instant remainder book.
