Repackaged to go with the movie tie-in editions, this mentions the movie on the back cover, and has Peter S. Beagle’s 1973 introduction to “LotR”, and indicates the 103rd printing of the 1982 revised edition.

This follows the 1995 HarperCollins UK edition, with a new, expanded index compiled by Christina Scull & Wayne G. Hammond.


The Lord of the Rings J. R. R. Tolkien (SFBC #01256, Feb 2000, $17.98, 1147pp, hc, cover by Donato Giancola) [Middle-Earth] Reprint (Allen & Unwin 1968) classic fantasy novel/omnibus. The copyright page indicates this is the 1991 HarperCollins UK edition (without illustrations), but the “Note on the Text” dated 1993, and the “Foreword to the Second Edition” suggest this is the re-set 1994 edition. This special SFBC edition has ISBN 0-7394-0825-9; it lacks a price and has the SFBC number on the back jacket.
