Laurell K. Hamilton tops the hardcover list for the second month, and Neal Stephenson returns after a month away. Baen, which does very few hardcovers, has two on the list. We had ties for #8 and #10, and there was no new runner-up. Nominees: 83, down from 91.

Harry Turtledove had a strong showing in hardcovers, and he tops the paperback list. There was no new runner-up. Nominees: 97, to last month's 96.

The Mists of Avalon returned after a month away, and The Sparrow after two months. There was no new runner-up. We had 63 nominees, up from 58.

For media, the latest ''Star Wars'' book was a runaway bestseller, with more than twice the votes of the next book, and only four titles made the cut. Nominees: 31, down from 37.

In gaming-related, there was a near-tie for #1. Nominees: 29, to last month's 26.
