New this week, 17 - 23 July:

* McCloud, Scott Reinventing Comics: How Imagination and Technology Are Revolutionizing an Art Form
(HarperPerennial 0-06-095350-0, $22.95, 237pp, tpb, July 2000)
Nonfiction study of comic books, in the form of a book-length comic book; follow-up to the author's influential Understanding Comics (1993). Amazon has no information, but the author's website does on this page, which mentions an earlier DC Comics edition for sale in comics shops. (Fri 21 Jul 2000)

Earlier in July:

* Cooper, Gordon, with Bruce Henderson Leap of Faith: An Astronaut's Journey into the Unknown
(HarperCollins 0-06-019416-2, $25, 279pp, hc, August 2000)
Biography by the Mercury 7 astronaut covering his career and his ideas about the government conspiracy to suppress data on UFOs. Amazon has Booklist review by Roland Green. (Mon 10 Jul 2000)

* Cooper, Karen, & Bruce Schneier Minicon 34 Restaurant Guide
(Rune Press no isbn, 96pp, chap, 1999)
Nonfiction guide to eating and drinking in the Twin Cities, Minnesota, prepared for members of the Minicon 34 convention in 1999. Noted because it's a ''related book'' nominee for this year's Hugo awards... even though it's in no way about SF. Mostly restaurant reviews, it also has pithy advice on ordering wine, how to tip, how to order eggs, etc. Available in PDF or hardcopy from the Minnesota SF Society. (Late listing; acquired from a freebie table at Westercon in Honolulu, 30 June 2000)

* von Däniken, Erich Odyssey of the Gods
(Element 1-86204-749-9, $24.95, 8+166pp, hc, June 2000)
The Alien History of Ancient Greece, translated from the German by Matthew Barton. He doesn't give up, you have to give him that. Amazon has Booklist review by William Beatty, and two five-star reader reviews by the same person. (Mon 10 Jul 2000)
