SFFH on Bestseller Lists: 25 March 2001

J.K. Rowling's two Harry Potter Schoolbooks occupy the top three spots on USA Today's list, a trick accomplished by their being sold separately and together. The books also place high on children's lists at NYT, LAT, and BookSense. This week's table updates children's lists from both LAT (a very occasional list) and PW (for March).

Stephen King's Dreamcatcher has sold a total 8613 copies by its second week on sale in the UK, placing #3 on the Times of London's hardcover fiction list.

David Farland's Wizardborn (Tor) ranks #29 on the extended New York Times list this week; other runners-up include books by Michael Reaves and David Weber. And in nonfiction, Stephen King's On Writing still places on NYT's list long after it has stopped ranking everywhere else.

The table compiles SFFH books placing 15th or higher on general bestseller lists (30th or higher on the combined USA Today list). The current rank of each book and the change since last week are shown, where:
   = same as last week
   + or - with number: difference since last week
   + back on list
   ++ new on list
   x no longer on list (number of x's: weeks off list)

Columns show ranks on lists from, respectively, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle, USA Today, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, London Times, Publishers Weekly, BookSense, Amazon.com (fiction lists), and Amazon UK (fiction lists). All lists rank hardcovers and paperbacks separately, except for the USA Today list, which is a single list combining fiction and nonfiction in all formats. Some books are on separate general [nonfiction] lists (gen), children's lists (ch), trade paperback lists (tpb), or mass market paperback lists (mm), as indicated.
