The Salmon of Doubt: Hitchhiking the Galaxy One Last Time had a substantial lead in the hardcover category, with Freedom's Ransom making a strong showing as well. The Minority Report by Philip K. Dick (Pantheon) was the new runner-up. We had 79 nominees, down from 90 last month.

American Gods led paperbacks by 100 points for the second month straight, with twice the votes as the next title. New runner-up: Wen Spencer's Tainted Trail (Roc). Nominees: 87, down from 98.

A Storm of Swords dominated trade paperbacks by an overwhelming margin; The Mists of Avalon is back. There was no new runner-up. Nominees: 62, down from 68.

Star Wars: The New Jedi Order: Enemy Lines II: Rebel Stand led media-related titles by a substantial margin. Nominees: 24, down from 30.

DragonLance: Dragons of a Vanished Moon dominated gaming-related titles. Nominees: 30, up from 27.
