SFFH on General Lists

Dean Koontz's new novel By the Light of the Moon (Bantam) enter the New York Times list this week as a runner-up, at #31; expect it on other lists next week. Isabel Allende's YA novel City of the Beasts appears for the first time on this chart, ranking #9 on the San Francisco list, where local Bay Area author Michael Chabon remains strong, at #3, with Summerland. Neil Gaiman's Coraline and Herbert/Anderson's Dune: The Butlerian Jihad novel remain among the top 25 hardcover fiction bestsellers at Amazon, long after they have dropped off other lists. All lists rank hardcovers and paperbacks separately, except for the USA Today list, which is a single list combining fiction and nonfiction in all formats, and BookScan, which combines hardcovers and paperbacks within lists for fiction, nonfiction, and children's. Dates shown are posted dates, except those in parentheses, which are dates compiled. New York Times posts its list one week in advance of print publication.

Note that some sources do not compile paperback bestsellers, and some exclude YA books (like the Harry Potter series) from their hardcover and paperback fiction lists.
