Crossroads of Twilight dominated hardcovers for the second month straight; Pattern Recognition led the next title by 150 points. New runner-up: Robert J. Sawyer's Humans (Tor). We had 83 nominees, well up from 60 last month.

The Changeling Plague headed the paperback list by a slim margin. New runner-up: The Braided World by Kay Kenyon (Bantam Spectra). Nominees: 102, well up from 78.

The Lord of the Rings led trade paperbacks by a wide margin. New runner-up: The Other Wind by Ursula K. Le Guin (Ace). Nominees: 66, up from 62.

Star Wars: The New Jedi Order: Force Heretic I: Remnant topped media-related titles by a solid margin. Nominees: 29, down from 38.

MechWarrior: Dark Age: A Call to Arms led the gaming-related category with three times as many points as the next title. Nominees: 36, up from 24.
