Two stories seem to be early work appearing for the first time.

Both the US and the Soviets are testing new underwater technology that threatens the balance of power. A first novel.


Gothic Romance Emmanuel Carrère (Macmillan Scribner’s 0-684-19199-7, Aug ’90, $19.95, 307pp, hc, cover by Robert Goldstrom) Literary historical fantasy novel of the creatures that inspired both Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein and Polidori’s The Vampire, with storylines set both in the period and today. Translated from the French by Lanie Goodman, this originally appeared as Bravoure (P.O.L. 1984). This translation has been revised by the author. Recommended (SW).
