Tender Loving Rage Alfred Bester (Tafford Publishing 0-9623712-4-6, Oct ’91 [Aug ’91], $19.95, 261pp, hc, cover by Kent Bash) Associational psychological thriller set in New York City in 1959. This novel has not been previously published. Fascinating reading and surprisingly effective. Recommended (SW).

An annotated bibliography of sf novels and stories up to 1930 and the start of the genre magazines, indexed by date, magazine, and motif/theme. An exhaustive study with long descriptions and evaluations of 2475 items. Highly recommended. (CNB)

One of the best series in the history of sf & fantasy. Recommended. (PSP)

Cities in Flight, Vol. 1 James Blish (Baen 0-671-72050-3, Apr ’91 [Mar ’91], $4.50, 309pp, pb, cover by David B. Mattingly) [Cities in Flight] Reprint (Avon 1970 as one volume) first part of the omnibus edition of Blish’s classic series. This volume contains They Shall Have Stars (Avon 1957 as Year 2018) and A Life for the Stars (Putnam 1962). This is one of the classics of the sf field. Highly recommended (SW).
