Cities in Flight, Vol. 1 James Blish (Baen 0-671-72050-3, Apr ’91 [Mar ’91], $4.50, 309pp, pb, cover by David B. Mattingly) [Okie]; Reprint (Avon 1970 as one volume) first part of the omnibus edition of Blish’s classic series. This volume contains They Shall Have Stars (Avon 1957 as Year 2018) and A Life for the Stars (Putnam 1962). This is one of the classics of the sf field. Highly recommended (SW).


Cities in Flight, Vol. 2 James Blish (Baen 0-671-72070-8, Jul ’91 [Jun ’91], $4.95, 393pp, pb, cover by David B. Mattingly) [Okie]; Reprint (Avon 1970 as one volume) second part of the omnibus edition of Blish’s classic series. This volume contains Earthman, Come Home (Putnam 1955) and The Triumph of Time (Avon 1958). This is one of the classics of the sf field. Highly recommended (SW).

Fontana, the prefaces to the original volumes by Blish and to Star Trek 12 by J.A. Lawrence, Blish’s wife, who completed parts of Star Trek #11-#12. The novelizations are presented in order of television appearance. This volume contains material from the first season.
