The Legend Book of Science Fiction ed. Gardner R. Dozois (Legend 0-7126-5010-5, Jul ’91, £8.99, 672pp, tp); Retrospective anthology of the ‘best’ sf stories from 1956 to 1989, with preface, afterword and lengthy story introductions by Dozois. Also announced in hardcover (-4861-5, £14.99).


The Year’s Best Science Fiction: Eighth Annual Collection ed. Gardner R. Dozois (St. Martin’s 0-312-06009-2, Jul ’91 [Jun ’91], $15.95, 624pp, tp, cover by Michael Whelan); Best-of-the-year anthology of 25 sf stories, with a summation of the year in the field by Dozois. Easily the best of the bests. Highly recommended (CNB). A hardcover edition (-06008-4, $27.95) is also available.
