The Year’s Best Fantasy and Horror: Fifth Annual Collection ed. Ellen Datlow & Terri Windling (St. Martin’s 0-312-07888-9, Aug ’92 [Jul ’92], $15.95, 518pp, tp, cover by Thomas Canty); Best-of-the-year anthology of 44 stories and six poems, plus a summation of the year in horror and fantasy by the editors, a survey of fantasy and sf in the media, and a necrology. This is the best of the horror/fantasy “bests” Highly recommended (SW). A hardcover edition (-07887-0, $27.95) was announced but not seen.
