Terry Carr’s Best Science Fiction and Fantasy of the Year #16 ed. Terry Carr (Tor 0-312-93025-9, Sep ’87 [Aug ’87], $17.95, 402pp, hc); Anthology of 11 stories, plus a summary of the sf year by Locus editor Charles N. Brown.

The Complete Alice and The Hunting of the Snark Lewis Carroll (Salem House 0-88162-228-1, Apr ’87 [Mar ’87], $24.95, 344pp, hc) [Alice]; Omnibus art book. Although the text is not new, the interest here is in the profuse illustrations by Ralph Steadman. The 8.5" x 11" size helps too. The three illustrated volumes have appeared separately: Alice in Wonderland (1967), Through the Looking Glass (1972), and The Hunting of the Snark (1978).

Issued to commemorate Cherryh’s appearance as Boskone 24 Guest of Honor. Limited to 1,000 copies, of which the first 225 are signed and boxed (and sold out at the con — ISBN -89-7). The regular post-con list price has apparently not been set yet.

Merovingen Nights #2: Fever Season ed. C. J. Cherryh (DAW 0-88677-224-9, Oct ’87 [Sep ’87], $3.50, 297pp, pb) [Merovingen Nights]; Shared world original anthology, second in the series. C.J. Cherryh writes all the connections between the stories, weaving them into a quasi-novel.
